Image-Bearer Series: Becoming a Bridge Builder

by Zechariah Van Harris |||
Hey, hi, hello, friend! My name is Zechariah. I am a married man. No children. Just dozens, upon dozens, of amazing nieces and nephews, sprawled across several different states that my wife and I Godparent. You see, I come from a huge family; eight brothers and five sisters. That is right; thirteen siblings! My brother, Eddie, and I are smack dab in the middle.
Being a middle child conditioned us throughout life to play the role of stabilizer in our family. We were unofficially assigned to put out fires between the elder and younger siblings. We know that this familial role spread into how we functioned in school growing up and eventually into the role we play today in our respective communities: Bridge Builders.
We orchestrate bringing people together. Family. Friends. Strangers. Come together. When we network, we specifically consider how we can connect this person with that person. That has always been our intention. This has helped us tremendously in our journey as business partners.
The name of our company is GBRTGalaxy Inc.
We cultivate culture and identify the most efficient ways to grow a business. I value three essential things; mentorship, exposure, and people helping people. My mission is to help bring untold Black stories to the forefront, to give voice to the voiceless and put a name and face to those misrepresented or vastly underrepresented.
My long-term vision is geared toward unity to help establish a healthy multicultural ecosystem functioning based on merit and character content, not siloed by differentiating labels of division. The main objective is to empower Black youth and mentor them to become leaders in the coming days. My job is to inform them that we have the power to transform the narrative of any connotations associated with negative stereotypes.
As an Image-Bearer, the most important lesson I would like to convey is this: Love the LORD with everything you got. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 says Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. The next step is to be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and be kind to nature. If you do this, then everything else will fall into place. Our LORD, the Almighty King of the Universe, supports anything following this formula. Kindness goes a long way, dear friend. One way to be kind is to allow people to have their agency. Also, to acknowledge people and give them the space to be heard so they may tell their stories. Scripture says in Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord. That’s how we help bring about building the Kingdom. We fight to give our people platforms to share testimony and righteousness with the world.
In closing, I hope someone out there finds and embraces this with all their heart and just hears what is genuinely being said. If you can’t be a bridge, find a bridge. Whoever you are, wherever you are, I hope you give yourself a chance–an opportunity to build upon what the LORD designed you to do. You may not know it yet, but you are destined to create something unique out here in this world. Always keep the LORD at the head of your life, and trust His process faithfully. Thank you for reading up to this point; I genuinely appreciate you. Have a joyful life! All the best! Thank you for your time and patience with this message.Peace and a waterfall of blessings upon you!
